We took our first day hiking adventure today. Maggie has been climbing up to the day and we've had lots of long walks around town in different parks but we have been a little nervous about spending the day hiking around in the woods with her. All I have to say is that we don't give her enough credit! Now that she's mobile we were really worried that she would not tolerate being in a carrier for an extended period of time and the big question was "would she nap in it?"
So she slept in a little this morning, perfect so that she could nap on the way to Crowders. Right before nap time we loaded up and met up with our small group and headed out. She napped most of the way and spent the remainder of the car ride blowing raspberries and entertaining herself and us! When we arrived we all loaded up (I forgot to mention that the group included five kids from the age of 4 months to 4 years and two pregnant moms) and headed up the mountain. We passed lots of hikers who I am sure thought we were all really brave or just crazy. I am going to vote for brave! We made it up the mountain with pretty good ease and enjoyed a nice picnic lunch over looking the valley with all the beautiful fall colors. And on the way down, yep, you guessed it, Maggie took a nap in her pack. The best part was spending the large part of our day hanging out with our small group while enjoying God's creation, which we don't get to do either nearly enough.
What a great day!!!!!
Sorry no pictures! We forgot our camera! But other cameras managed to make the trip so we will get some pics from our friends and post them later.
